Grilled Bacon Egg Cheese Croissant

My favorite part of the weekend is catching up on some zzz’s and sleeping in, then getting up and making my morning coffee and breakfast.  I wanted to share with you my favorite go-to breakfast sandwich Grilled Bacon Egg Cheese Croissant! A Croissant breakfast sandwich has always been my favorite when I eat out at a breakfast joint.  Whether it is on vacation or at a local breakfast place like Dunkin Donuts. The first time I had Grilled Bacon Egg Cheese Croissant was in Provincetown and let me just tell you my mind was blown. The buttery goodness that grilling the croissant added an intense amazing flavor to this classic sandwich.  After one bite I was hooked. I think I ate it three times alone on that trip. Once I got home I needed to try to make my own version.

I was amazed at how something so simple, could be so delicious.  I don’t make homemade bread ever, so I started with two freshly baked flaky croissants from Paris Baguette a local bakery near my house.  They were so fresh when I got home, they were still warm. I had to stop myself from eating them before I made the sandwiches they smelt and looked that good.  I carefully sliced them so they would be ready to be stuffed with some goodness.

Next, I fried up some bacon.  Everything is incredible with Bacon.  For my Grilled Bacon Egg Cheese Croissant, I prefer to go with a thick cut bacon.  I find it meatier and love the consistency when fried over traditional classic bacon.  After the bacon is cooked to perfection remove from pan and place on a plate lined with paper towel to soak up the natural grease.

Step two is to fry up some eggs.  When I fry my eggs I use a combo of a little butter and a little canola oil.  After cracking my eggs in the heated up greased pan, is when I season it lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic.

After the eggs are done, now it is the fun and easy part, making the sandwiches.  Since your croissants were sliced ahead of time, add an egg to each. Then top both with two slices of bacon.  Last but not least (I am a huge fan of cheese) add at least one if not two slices of your favorite sliced cheese.  I went with Asiago.

Now add some butter to a heated pan, once butter is melted, add both sandwiches back to the pan and grill both sides until golden brown. That’s it!  Cut them in half and serve with your favorite cup of coffee and enjoy! I guarantee it will be the best Grilled Bacon Egg Cheese Croissant!

This sandwich is so versatile you can substitute the bacon with either ham, spam, sausage, or chorizo.  For the eggs instead of fried, you can do scrambled eggs instead. Whatever your choice and substitutions are, I am sure once you make it and grill the croissant it will be just as buttery and amazing, guaranteed.

After trying this at a restaurant in Provincetown to making it at home, I would definitely have to say breakfast is my favorite meal of the day without a doubt.

Ingredients
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 Large eggs
  • sea salt and ground pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder
  • 4 Slices thick cut bacon cooked
  • 4 slices of your favorite sliced cheese I used Asiago
  • 2 fresh croissants I use Croissants from Paris Baguette
  • Canola oil
  • butter
Instructions
Directions:
  1. Heat a small non-stick pan over medium-high heat with a little butter and a dash of canola oil.
  2. Add the eggs to the pan. Sprinkle each egg with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. As the eggs start to bubble, slide a spatula under the eggs, and carefully flip them and cook the other side.
  3. Once the eggs are cooked fully (I love some runny yolks, but for this dish you want the yolks firm), remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Next in a heated non-stick frying pan, fry 4 slices of Thick cut bacon. Fully cook until the bacon is crispy. When done remove from pan to a plate lined with paper towel to soak up some of the natural grease from the bacon.
  5. Now Top egg with two slices of bacon and a slice of asiago cheese (or you can add a second slice if you like things cheesy like me)
  6. Slice each croissant in half and fill with the arranged egg, bacon, and cheese.
  7. Place put together sandwiches on a skillet greased with butter and grill/toast until golden brown.
  8. Flip sandwich and grill the other side to same desired result.
  9. Remove sandwiches from pan and cut and half
